Extract: Once upon a time, in the outback of the United States of America lived a mysterious and weird people of Anabaptists called the Amish. If you go to Pennsylvania where a majority of them live, you would think that you are in the middle of an historic shoot. Indeed, the Amish live in the seventeenth century, and for them the time of evolution has stopped. How do they manage to live through the evolution of our modern world? After surveying their way of life, it seems paradoxical that their traditions perpetuate in our society where all is continually changing. And yet, they are! They even begin to be known thanks to films, songs or books that talk about them, like Witness, a Peter Weir film, or Amish Paradise, a humorous song by Weird Al-Yancovic (...) Written by a French native. Extract: Since the official opening of China through the introduction of the regulation on joint-venture in 1979, foreign direct investment has boomed tremendously. According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), foreign direct investment refers to acquiring in the long term interest in a company operating outside the economy of the investor, including equity capital, reinvested earnings and intra-company loans. With a population of 1.3 billion, China has been the largest FDI recipient amongst developing countries since 1993 according to the International Monetary Fund's data, reaching a new record high of $72 billions inflows in 2005 (UNCTAD, 2007). The accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001 accelerated the opening of China and its integration into international business. It is now ranked in the top four countries in term of GDP (CIA, World Fact book, 2008) and contributes strongly to the growth of the world economy. Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) have no choice but to take part in the development of the giant country, entry into China seen as a means for potential growth in the future. It is no more an option but a strategic necessity to invest in China. During almost two decades, the country has gone through fundamental changes in regards to the preferred entry mode of foreign investors into the Chinese market. First of all, this essay will concentrate on the main options available to foreign investors when entering China. Then, this paper will focus on the evolution of the preferred mode of entries and try to explain why it has changed during these two decades (...) Written by a French native speaker. Extract: One of the main issues when managing a company is the employee retention and this, for, at least, two main reasons. First, hiring employees and training them can have very high costs (especially in the case of high-qualified individuals). Thus employee retention is firstly in relation with the recruiting and training budget of a company because a high turnover will implicate a high increase on those costs. Then, another problem related with the problem of turnover is the loss of performance. An experiment related in the research of Van Dick (2004) was made in order to measure the performance: two groups were compared on their results in terms of performance and one of the groups had a high turnover rate and the other one a very low one. The results were that the group with the highest turnover did not perform as well as the other one. Thus, a good management of employees inciting employees to be committed to the organization will also imply positively on performance and this is also why the turnover rates and intentions are a so sensitive issue in companies. Consequently, the main issue on this paper would be to study how to increase the employee retention in the company (...) Table of contents I) Professional identity A. Extract: Transnationals or multinationals is the name given to business corporations which operate in several countries at once. They usually do it through providing a package of resources along with managerial, technical and entrepreneurial skill. The term transnational is used for any company owned and managed by citizens of several nationalities, whereas the others operates in one or more countries but has its headquarters in one. In the process of establishment of a corporation in any country, there are reasons of choice by the corporation and motives for acceptance by the host country.
